2023 Fitness Competition – The 2023 Arnold Classic will feature some of the world’s best bodybuilders – but some categories are noticeably absent.
The Arnold Sports Festival is one of the most popular fitness shows of the year. The brainchild of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the event is home to various sports, strength competitions and other events. And among all the arm wrestling, MMA fights and strongmen is the Arnold Classic, a bodybuilding competition that is undoubtedly the second most prestigious show after Mr. Olympia.

Schedule Of The Contest And Check In
On August 16, 2023, the official Arnold Sports Festival Instagram page released ticket information for next year’s event. The organization also announced the list of seven bodybuilding divisions that will battle for dominance in the classics, including:
There’s a lot on the line for competitors at the 2023 Arnold Classic: Not only does a win qualify a competitor for that year’s Olympia, but nearly $800,000 in prize money is paid out in the event’s various divisions in 2022. $200,000 of that money went to Brandon Curry, who finished first in the Arnold Classic.
There are four International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) pro league divisions that are not in the Arnold Classic 2023 lineup: 212, Women’s Physique, Women’s Bodybuilding and Figure International.
The 212 division was only represented at the Arnold from 2014 to 2018, when women’s bodybuilding – known as the Ms. International – This event was held from 1989 to 2013.

Women’s Physique also headlined the event from 2015 to 2020, but has since disbanded. Her repeated absences don’t sit well with competitor Sarah Villegas, a two-time winner of the Women’s Physique Olympia.

“The female body is bigger than a fashion show, much bigger,” Villegas wrote. “And the Arnold Classic has become for me, just a show. Women’s bodybuilding is one of the biggest events on the Olympic stage and now the main event of the IFBB Pro League, the Pittsburgh Pro.
Iris Kyle, legendary female bodybuilder and ten-time winner of Ms. Olympia shared her support for Villegas, commenting on the post:

“Women should have the same opportunities as our male [counterparts]. It absolutely [abuses] me to see that women are not given the same opportunities to practice their craft.”
The figure international division – which has participated in the show almost every year since 2002, cut short due to Covid beyond the 2021 edition – is another notable omission in 2023.
“Every year we review all our sports, including bodybuilding, and analyze whether we can host the competition. Based on the annual analysis of all our categories, we felt we were not in a position to host the world championships, which we do. . Depending on the depth of the field, we might come back and do it again next year. We feel like we didn’t have that depth this year. We’ll come back and see it again in 2024.
The 2023 Arnold Sports Festival will be held March 2-5, 2023 in Columbus, OH. The Fitness League 2022/2023
Beginner: The beginner class is for those who do not want to compete at the open class level, it may or may not be their first time.
Transfers: Athletes may transfer to 1 other class (excluding shows at The New You) GM Bikini, Masters Bikini, Open Bikini and Fit Body – OK, only 2 classes – 3 transfers must be made GM Bikini, Masters Bikini, Open Figure and Fit Body – No ok, 3 classes ‘Bikini’ one class, ‘Figure’ one class; GM, Masters, Open Category. Athletes may compete in all divisions within a class, paying a crossover fee for each division.
Athletes must not take drugs for ten (10) years from the date of performance. See our Prohibited Substances List for an overview.

Successfully pass a polygraph test prior to competition. Individual competitors are responsible for booking their own polygraph tests by contacting Ken and Leslie Donaldson of ITR Polygraph Services.
All athletes must pay $75 + 5% GST (total = $78.75 CAD) directly to the polygraph team at the time of testing.
Please note: Absolutely no SLR/DSLR professional equipment or equivalent equipment is permitted at the venue. Small personal digital cameras are permitted at WNBF Canada events for personal, non-commercial use only. Thanks for understanding.
Each coach who brings three (3) or more athletes to a WNBF Canada performance will receive one (1) free ticket for the entire day of competition. Coaches must email Leroy Rollins to confirm or not be eligible.
